What is Rose Lodge?

We are a small, home-based business run by life-long animal lovers and pet owners. We have one aim: to provide your pets with love and care whilst you are away from home. We are extremely passionate about small mammals and can assure you that every animal staying with us will get the dedicated care that our own pets do!

Whether it's for just one night or a few weeks, we can ensure your furry friends have a comfortable and happy home-away-from-home whilst staying at Rose Lodge.

Although small animal boarding establishments do not require licences, we are fully DBS-checked and have business insurance with PetPlan Sanctuary.

Where is Rose Lodge?

We are based in the south-east suburbs of Sheffield in S12. We are easily accessed from all areas of South Yorkshire and North-East Derbyshire, although guests are welcome to travel to us from anywhere!

Which animals can stay?

We offer boarding for:

  • Rabbits
  • Guinea pigs
  • Rats
  • Hamsters
  • Gerbils
  • Mice
  • Degus
  • Hedgehogs
  • Ferrets
  • Budgies

We may be able to accommodate other small animals, but unfortunately do not currently board  reptiles.

What is the accommodation like?

Please see the 'Accommodation' page for details and photographs of our different boarding facilities.

How much does boarding cost?

As boarding prices are different for each animal and accommodation type, please see the 'Prices' page.

What is included/not included?

Included in your pet's stay:

  • Safe, comfortable and spacious accommodation.
  • All hay, water and fresh food (provided daily).
  • Daily cleaning of litter-trays/toilet corners.
  • A full clean of accommodation if your pet is staying for more than 7 days.
  • Human interaction (handling, cuddles, brushing etc.).
  • Daily checks for signs of flystrike on rabbits.
  • Giving your pets any medication/supplements you have provided.

You must provide:

  • Your beautiful pet (in generally good health, unless otherwise stated on the booking form).
  • Dry food for the entire stay (as changes in diet can upset little tummies). This will be fed to your animals twice per day.
  • A completed booking form- (this can either be downloaded and filled in prior to your pet's stay and brought with you on the day, or filled in at drop-off).
  • An up-to-date vaccination card for rabbits. We only board rabbits that are up to date with BOTH annual vaccinations (myxomatosis and R(V)HD1, and R(V)H2).
  • Any medication or supplements your pet needs.
  • A 25% non-refundable deposit at booking.

We recommend:

  • That you treat your rabbits for worms and flystrike before they stay with us.
  • That you bring any additional comforters from home to ease your pet's transition (e.g. blankets, toys etc.)
